This wiki gathers together information on the medieval Benedictine priory at Durham (in County Durham, England), the foundation established in 1083 on the site of a religious community with direct descent from the Anglo-Saxon monastery at Lindisfarne. In the late 11th and early 12th centuries they built Durham Priory which remained the centre of their religious lives and administration until the dissolution of the monasteries under Henry VIII. Under the Protestant settlement the building became Durham Cathedral, retaining many records of the Priory monks.
